Slow Food NYC’s Annual “Snailblazer” Party
The Invisible Dog Gallery, 51 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201
November 1, 2012
Simply the best party of the season, the (S)low down features artisanal cocktails by some of the most creative mixologists in town, a raw bar, a whole hog roast, and seasonal, local eats created by Slow Food NYC Snail of Approval and “slow friendly” restaurants and food artisans. The evening’s fabulous raffle and silent auction are like no others, offering one-of-a-kind, food-centric experiences that you won’t find anywhere else.
This year we honor Chef Bill Telepan with our second annual “Snailblazer” Award. At his Snail of Approval winning restaurant, Telepan, Bill creates menus featuring local, seasonal produce, and heritage meats. Bill also works tirelessly to help improve the food served to our nation’s school children. His association with Wellness in the Schools has grown from working one day a week in a public school cafeteria to promoting the program across the country as well as lobbying Congress to increase funding for child nutrition. With
great artisanship and tireless effort, Bill works to ensure that everyone in our community eats better.
Proceeds from this event support Slow Food NYC programs including the Urban Harvest program of good food education for NYC kids. Through these programs, more than 1,000 students in the South Bronx, Harlem, on the Lower East Side, and in East New York and other Brooklyn neighborhoods learn about the importance of good, clean, and fair food for their health and well-being, the health of their families and communities, and the health of our planet.
